Christmas & New Year in Spiti Valley – A Winter Expedition Like No Other

Imagine ringing in Christmas and New Year not in a crowded city, but amidst snow-covered mountains, frozen rivers, and ancient monasteries — where silence speaks, and every sunrise feels sacred.

This exclusive winter journey to Spiti Valley takes you deep into the heart of the Trans-Himalayan region — a stark, high-altitude desert tucked between India and Tibet, often called “The Middle Land.” Known for its surreal landscapes, timeless monasteries, and warm-hearted locals, Spiti becomes a white wonderland in winter — a place where adventure meets peace.

Your journey begins from Delhi to Shimla, and from there, unfolds across a series of breathtaking destinations — Kalpa, Tabo, Dhankar, Pin Valley, Kaza, Kibber, Langza, Komic, Hikkim, Gue, Sangla, and finally Chitkul, the last village on the Indo-Tibetan border.

Each day brings a new layer of experience — from watching the sun paint the Kinnaur Kailash in golden hues, to exploring 1,000-year-old monasteries carved into cliffs, to crossing Asia’s highest bridge at Chicham, and walking through villages that sit higher than most peaks.

What makes this trip truly special are the celebrations — a cozy Christmas evening in Kalpa, and a New Year’s party in Sangla, surrounded by snow, bonfires, music, and a community of like-minded travellers who start as strangers but end as lifelong friends.

This is not just a holiday — it’s an experience of endurance, beauty, and reflection. Spiti in winter is raw, real, and magical. The cold will test you, the altitude will humble you, but the landscapes will leave you in awe forever.

If you’ve ever dreamed of celebrating the year-end away from the ordinary — under millions of stars and a sky full of peace — this journey is your invitation.
